Superintendents
usually understand the benefits of green covers, it's management and the green
committees that can be the hard ones to convince. We promote the use of covers
at courses with bentgrass greens, regardless of locale. With an ever-growing number
of green cover options, designed for a variety of different purposes, it's worth
an open-minded look at a few of the options on the market to see if your course
could benefit from a cover-up. The
covers pay for themselves in a couple of seasons, we estimate that we've saved
between $15,000 and $20,000 per year on labor, seed, fertilizer and herbicide
normally used for transition. - E. Bauer, The Club at Carlton Woods
